Future publishing to launch gadget magazine T3 in compact size

Future, the magazine publisher, is launching its first compact-sized magazine through its gadget title, T3. It will be available alongside the full-format size in a bid to further increase sales.

The new edition will be launched in the UK on July 24 in more than 800 WH Smith stores. A new T3 home section will also be added to both the full size and compact issues that will look at gadgets for “the modern man’s living space”.

The publisher says it will be the first men’s compact edition to be sold beyond just travel stores and adds that previously WH Smith has seen a significant uplift in sales when other magazines have launched compact or travel editions.

T3 magazine is already has 21 licensed editions available around the world, including India and China. Future has also been focusing on developing the brand online and with the launch of its T3 Gadget Awards.

Group publisher Nial Ferguson, who joined Future earlier this year from Bauer Consumer Media, says: “The development of the magazine will be mirrored by activity online as Kieran [Alger, online editor] and his new T3.com team work to bring the site in line with the premium values of the magazine.”

Future is an international special-interest media group with offices in the UK and US. Founded in 1985 it now publishes 180 special-interest titles, websites and events in areas such as games, technology, music, film, sports, automotive and crafts.
