Bray Leino wins Royal Mint marketing account

The Royal Mint has appointed Bray Leino to handle its marketing account, including its four-way programme for the London 2012 Olympics. It pitched against two undisclosed agencies to win the business.

The first coin minted as part of the London 2012 programme will be the Handover Coin, which celebrates the official Olympiad handover from Beijing to London. It will be launched on August 24 at the Party in The Mall.

The Royal Mint marketing director, Dave Knight, says he believes “there is far greater potential” in its coin collector business “than has been realised to date”. It is not clear if there was an incumbent agency.

The Royal Mint is an executive agency of the Government and is based in Wales. As well as minting new coins, it issues commemorative coins and memorabilia for collectors, creates medals and makes jewellery. It has made coins in more than 100 countries and has a history stretching back over 1,100 years.
