FA Cup matches involving non-league clubs will be filmed for the first time, following a deal between ITV and the Football Association. ITV will screen matches from the first weekend of the competition on its internet portal ITV Local.
The initiative is believed to be one of a number of measures planned by the broadcaster to showcase its coverage of the tournament and drive traffic to its internet operations. ITV outbid the BBC for the rights to the FA Cup from this season.
A number of matches have been selected for filming on each FA Cup weekend during August, September and October. Highlights packages will be made available to watch on ITVLocal.com, ITV.com and TheFA.com.
Clubs whose matches are not filmed will be able to upload their own videos on a Grassroots Sport section of the ITV Local website.
