MySpace and Warner launch online comedy channel

MySpace has teamed up with Warner Music Entertainment to launch a UK-specific comedy channel. MySpace Comedy UK goes live today.

The entertainment channel has been set up to give users a taste of new and established comedy acts. Content includes “rare” clips from well-known comedians, as well as commmissioned clips of new acts, along with animations and user-generated content.

The channel will also host Comedybox.tv, an online comedy platform developed by WME. MySpace will host the overall site and retain advertising control, while WME will oversee the site’s dedicated video content and manage MySpace Comedy’s store.

MySpace UK has also partnered with chewing gum brand Trident to launch the MySpace Trident Comedy Awards.
