Metro launches electronic edition

Associated Newspapers’ city freesheet, Metro, is launching an online edition, eMetro. The electronic version of the morning paper will sit within Metro’s growing digital portfolio, which includes Metro.co.uk MEview and MEmusic.

Subscribers to eMetro will be sent an email each morning inviting them to view the day’s edition. Readers will be able to select their viewing preferences and forward stories to colleagues.

The publishing system, provided by YUDU Media, also allows users to view online instantly, print, zoom and search for text, bookmark relevant pages and save a digital version of the newspaper to their computer for offline reading.

Metro operations director Stuart Wood says: “eMetro combines the strengths of digital publishing, the familiarity of our newspaper format and a simple delivery method to provide readers with a convenient new way of enjoying our quality content.”

More than 1 million copies of the newspaper are distributed each morning across UK cities including London, Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool.
