Virgin Mobile launches Festival Buddy application

Virgin Mobile is launching a “Festival Buddy” mobile application for this year’s V Festival. It will allow festival-goers to view news and information about the event from today (August 7).

The service will offer information on the festival line-up and will allow users to build a personal schedule and find out information about the Chelmsford and Staffordshire sites. It will also have wallpapers and video downloads, as well as news, gossip and weather reports from the sites.

Virgin Mobile music sponsorship manager, Paul Shulver, says the service, which is modified for both the Chemlsford and Weston Park sites, allows consumers to “completely tailor-make their festival experience”.

The service is available to consumers on all networks, but Virgin Mobile customers will be offered extras such as access to the Virgin Mobile Union Garden.

V Festival, which takes place on August 16 and 17, has in the past featured artists such as Radiohead, Foo Fighters and Kylie.

Orange launched a similar service, GlastoNav, for this year’s Glastonbury Festival in June.
