Bebo has appointed Sean Kane to the new role of global head of mobile for the social networking site. He has moved from his position as general manager of social networking platform provider Intercasting Corporation.
Kane will lead the development of mobile applications for Bebo’s 45 million users.
Bebo expanded its mobile offering in February this year when it partnered with Intercasting to give its users a way to produce and share content on their mobiles. It has also partnered with mobile operators such as Orange, T-Mobile and O2 this year.
Bebo has more than 11.5 million unique users in the UK and a total membership of 45 million worldwide. It claims that its worldwide users spend an average of 30 minutes a day on the site.
At Intercasting Corporation he was responsible for international markets and product initiatives. Prior to that, he was senior vice president of business development at Vivendi Universal Net, where he managed digital assets globally.
