Gamestation restructures marketing team

Retailer Gamestation has promoted Emma Kitching to head of marketing as part of a restructure. It follows the departure of Jon Brook after five years in the job.

Brook will leave the company in September and will be replaced by the senior marketing manager, Kitching, who joined Gamestation three years ago from Northern Foods. Her first brief will be to lead the games retailer’s latest marketing strategy.

Anna Downing, who joined the Gamestation marketing team four years ago, will be responsible for delivering the company’s product marketing strategy.

The retailer was acquired by rival Game last summer in a £74m deal. As part of the deal, all of Gamestation’s 217 stores were sold to Game but it retained the separate brands.

At the time, Lisa Morgan, chief executive of Game, said that the two brand appealed to different sections of that market. She says that Game appeals to the mass market while Gamestation is for hardcore gamers.
