Phones4U marketing director Jim Slater (pictured) will leave the company at the end of the month after four years in the role. The mobile phone retailer is now looking for a replacement.

Slater took over from Paul Hamburger, who left Phones4U in 2004 after being suspended.

Slater was previously sales and marketing director at Sunderland Football Club. Prior to joining Sunderland in 1998, he was international marketing director for Johnnie Walker Scotch at United Distillers & Vintners. He also worked for Mars and Kraft Jacobs Suchard.

Slater’s predecessor Hamburger left after weeks of speculation surrounding his position. Head of brand communications Suk Grewal, head of propositions and CRM Chris Hale and communications chief Damien Peachy also left at the same time.

Ofcom recently launched an investigation into allegations of mis-selling at Phones4U in May this year. It is understood that the complainants claimed that the retailer’s staff had misrepresented terms of tariffs and mobile plans.
