The Times adds 10p to cover price

News International’s The Times will be the latest newspaper to raise its cover price this year. The weekday editions will go up by 10p to 80p from Monday (September 1).

The new cover price for The Times will see it match that of The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian and The Independent.

This year so far Associated Newspapers’ the Daily Mail increased its cover price by 5p to 50p, while the Financial Times raised its price by 20p to £1.50.

However, the Saturday edition of The Times will remain at £1.40.

In June the newspaper underwent a major redesign and relaunch in full colour.

The move comes weeks after News International took the step to drop the cover price of The Sun across the UK, putting it in line with the cover price in London. The cost of the paper went down from 35p to 30p.

In September, the cover price of The Sun was dropped from 35p to 20p in London and the South East. It then raised the price to 25p in May. On July 21, it again raised it to 30p.
