Magic 105.4 has signed former eighties popstar Kim Wilde to present a new weekend show. Magic’s Secret Songs will launch on Sunday (September 7).

Wilde, who now presents a number of gardening TV shows, will play classic tracks that are “special to Magic listeners and celebrities alike”, which aim to “evoke fond memories”. The show will air between 12pm and 3pm on Sunday afternoons.

Adrian Steward, Magic 105.4 programme director, says that the show will be an “important part” of the station’s new weekend schedule. He describes Wilde as the “perfect” host because of her background on the eighties music scene.

Wilde shot to fame in 1981 after the success of the track, Kids in America. She released a number of other singles as well appearing on the West End production of Tommy. She is now well known for presenting ITV’s Better Gardens and BBC’s Garden Invaders.
