Rhodes leaves News International

News Magazines chief executive Camilla Rhodes has left News International after 28 years. Her departure follows the closure of News Magazines after just three years.

The division is being axed following a review of News International by James Murdoch earlier this year. Murdoch moved to News Corporation as chairman and chief executive for Europe earlier late last year.

News Magazines was launched in 2005 by Rhodes, as News International looked to extend its business into magazine publishing. It won the business for Skymag, the customer magazine of sister company Sky, launched real-life title Love It! and published the Sunday Times Travel magazine.

Skymag will now be published in-house by Sky, while the Sunday Times Travel will continue to be published by News International. The newspaper company is understood to be looking for a buyer for Love It!.

Rhodes joined News International in 1980 and has held a number of high profile roles, including as managing director of The Times, The Sunday Times and as managing director of The Sun and News of the World.
