Orange raises Morris to top DM role after team merger

Orange has promoted Jeremy Morris to the new role of head of direct marketing. He will take on the role from today (September 3) and will report to Orange UK brand director Justin Billingsley.

The appointment follows the integration of Orange’s business and consumer direct marketing teams and is part of chief executive Tom Alexander’s plans to restructure the company.

Morris will be responsible for planning, developing and delivering the brand’s direct acquisition strategy, as well as managing its below-the-line communications. He will work closely with Orange’s newly appointed direct marketing agency Chemistry and is responsible for ensuring that its “Together we can do more” campaign is integrated into its direct marketing.

He was previously head of acquisition for its Pay As You Go team, where he helped develop its Pay As You Go SIM acquisition strategy both on and offline.

Morris’ role is the latest of several promotions at Orange. At the end of July, it promoted former digital chief Spencer McHugh to the new role of head of brand communications (MW July 24). The appointment was part of the operator’s plans to revamp its digital strategy in line with its “I Am” theme. Billingsley also took on a beefed-up role in June, as part of the restructure of the business (MW June 12). He now has responsibility for the home business and retail division, in addition to his current remit.

Orange is currently reviewing its media planning and buying account. Vizeum, i-Level, Mediaedge:cia, MPG and incumbent Initiative were all understood to have been pitching for the business. It is thought a shortlist will be announced laterthis week.
