Virgin Media appoints Allen as non-exec director
Former ITV chief executive Charles Allen has joined Virgin Media as a non-executive director. It is the second appointment in a week for Allen, who also joined the board of Endemol in a non-executive capacity.
Allen, who resigned from ITV in 2006, is currently non-executive chairman of Global Radio, owner of Galaxy, Heart and Capital radio brands.
Last week, Allen was named as a senior adviser to the private equity arm of Goldman Sachs. As part of that deal, he will join the board of Endemol, makers Big Brother, and also advise Goldman Sachs Capital Partners on media issues.
Virgin Media has also appointed former Time Warner executive John Rigsby to its board. Rigsby was previously president of Florida Group, part of Bright House Networks, which builds networks for broadband, cable, high-definition TV and video.
