Global Radio and GCap Media retain GMG contract

Global Radio and GCap Media have retained the national sales contract for GMG Radio. It is currently handled by GCap, which is being taken over by Global.

The deal means that the Global/GCap sales team will continue to handle the Real, Century, Smooth and Rock Radio brands. GMG will continue to handle its national and local sponsorship and promotion, as well as regional and local sales in-house.

Stuart Taylor, GMG Radio deputy chief executive and group commercial director, says: “The combination of GMG and Global creates a compelling proposition for advertisers.”

The future of the contract was thrown into doubt following Global’s £375m takeover of GCap. GMG moved the contract to GCap last summer following Global’s acquisition of Chrysalis Radio, which had handled GMG’s sales for about four years.

Global and GCap are in the process of merging their sales team and hope to complete the restructure by November 1.
