PayPal launches Unwelcome campaign

PayPal.gifPayPal, the online payment service, is launching a campaign asking retailers if they are “alienating” customers by not offering PayPal as a payment method. It breaks today (September 15).

The “Unwelcome” campaign, which has been created by Base One, shows shopkeepers holding signs saying “Go Away”, suggesting that not offering PayPal is the equivalent of sending customers away. It also aims to highlight PayPal as a secure and convenient method of online payment.

It will run across print and online and will be supposed with a direct mail campaign, which will see a large “Unwelcome” mat send to over 2000 retailers.

The online payment provider has 21% market share of all consumer internet payments. Mark Hudson, marketing director, PayPal UK says: “Retailers should take advantage and add PayPal to their sites now to boost what could be a tough retail Christmas ahead.”
