Nokia launches dedicated TV channel for N96

Nokia is launching what it claims it the first TV channel dedicated to providing mobile content. Capsule N96 launches today (September 22) and will offer a range of programming from culture to motoring shows.

Users will be able to download “mobisodes” of shows including Cabin Fever, a show focusing on cars presented by Fifth Gear’s Jonny Smith, fashion show Portfolio, and Byte-Wize, a technology and gadgets programme. Each show will be just 96 seconds long.

The six shows will run to the end of November but the channel will be rolled-out more widely if it proves successful.

The channel is part of the support campaign for the launch of the N96 model in the UK and it is aimed at a new generation of time poor “content grazing” consumers.

Nokia UK managing director, Simon Ainslie, says the move reflects the “dynamic nature” of the handset maker’s N96 model and its users.
