Diageo has promoted Andy Fennell (pictured), marketing and innovation director for Europe, as chief marketing officer following the departure of Rob Malcolm, global marketing, sales and innovation. He will retire from the business in Decemeber.

The drinks giant has decided to separate Malcolm’s sales and marketing responsibilities. The sales team will now be led by Rob Anderson, who has been appointed as chief customer officer. Anderson was previously managing director, of global travel and Middle East, and global customer development.

Anderson and Fennell have also been appointed to its executive committee and will report to chief executive Paul Walsh. They will take over their new roles on October 1.

Meanwhile, Diageo has also appointed six of its senior management staff to the executive committee. Nick Blazquez, managing director for Africa, David Gosnell, managing director global supply, Randy Millian, managing director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Ian Wright, corporate relations director, Larry Schwartz, president of Diageo USA, and Glibert Ghostine, managing director of continental Europe.

Walsh says the promotions to the executive board will give “great focus” to every aspect of planning.
