Global Radio unveils new Capital FM logo

Global Radio has launched a new logo for its London flagship station 95.8 Capital FM. It will be rolled out across its website, merchandising and internal branding from this week.

The logo, which has been created by design agency Social UK, includes the name, frequency and FM wavelength and is in red, white and blue. It aims to show the stations “energy” using bright colours.

Richard Park, Global Radio’s group executive director and director of broadcasting, says that the logo is “simplistic and vibrant” and should reflect the station’s position as “an important part of Global Radio”.

The London station has struggled to retain its position in the London market over recent years. In the Rajar for the second quarter of 2008, Capital returned to third place in the London market, after being pushed into fourth place by Bauer Media-owned Kiss in the first quarter of the year. It reported a 2.8% increase in weekly reach to 1.6m, which gives it a 4.5% share of the London market.
