National Rail Enquiries launches first ad campaign

National Rail Enquiries (NRE) has launched a press and digital ad campaign to promote its online services. It will mark the first time NRE has undertaken any advertising activity since it launched six years ago.

Launching this week, the ads will run for four weeks across Associated Newspapers’ Metro title and online through Yahoo! and Facebook.

HotHouse Integrated Marketing has been charged with creating the campaign, with media planning and buying handled by Mediaedge:cia Manchester.

It will aim to inform commuters about the services NRE offers online and promote its benefits to commuters.

Its services include journey text alerts and a journey planner customised features. NRE is also promoting its TrainTracker Text service which enables passengers on the move to access real time departure and arrival information.

Julia Wild, HotHouse Integrated Marketing managing director, says: “This campaign helps train users to secure up-to-the-minute information, online and via their phone.”

In 2007 Britain’s railways carried over 1.2 billion travellers.
