Former Silverjet marketer Gershon’s role is one of three permanent appointments to interim employees at the airline; interim commercial director Martyn Bridger is also joining permanently as commercial and service director and Tamarah Khatib will serve as head of online.

Khatib is credited with already successfully relaunching the company’s website and will cover all aspects of online marketing worldwide.

Gershon and Bridger will both report directly to BMI mainline managing director Peter Spencer.

Bridger will be responsible for revenue management, overseas sales, distribution, customer service and service development and is to oversee a review of the quality of BMI’s service.

In August, BMI appointed M&C Saatchi and Media Planning Group to its £11m advertising and media planning and buying accounts.
