Virgin Media TV channel Virgin One is launching its biggest ad campaign of the year to publicise the return of its flagship series Terminator/ The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
The multi-media campaign will span digital, primetime terrestrial TV, gaming, viral and ambient activity in a bid to tap into the franchise’s “loyal” fan-base. The series was Virgin One’s highest rating drama last year.
An online game called Already At War has been created to give users an idea of the paranoia felt by the character John Connor, the “saviour of mankind”.
By signing up, users will also be targeted with mobile videos, phone calls from “Terminators” and an appearance in a video sequence.
Advertising will appear across social networking portals, film, sci-fi and gaming sites, as well as “hologram” ads appearing in cult game Quake Live.
The campaign has been developed in house, with the communications strategy handled by Goodstuff, media buying by Manning Gottlieb OMD and online elem-ents through 20:20 London and Green Room Digital.
