gold%20blendThe Eighties coffee ad featuring the “Will they? Won’t they?” on-screen relationship of the Nescafé Gold Blend couple has been chosen as “the most romantic TV ad of all time”.

Antony Head and Sharon Maughan came to embody Nescafé’s premium instant-coffee product in a series of ads that featured sophisticated dinner party encounters.

Two decades later, the nature of the flirtatious relationship created by ad agency McCann Erickson has proven to have enduring appeal for romantics in the UK today. Some 2,000 members of the public were polled in a survey specially commissioned in time for Valentine’s Day by UtalkMarketing.

The Nescafé Gold Blend ad was voted the most romantic of all time by more than a third (36%) of people questioned, beating the “Last Rolo” and “All because the lady loves Milk Tray” ads.
