Sony to sponsor ITV football coverage

Sony will sponsor ITV’s coverage of the England football team’s qualifying campaign for the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament in South Africa. The two-year deal will run across all of England’s home qualification matches for the World Cup and all away friendlies.

It will also include a highlights package of all the team’s internationals.

Sony’s sponsorship deal consists of a full multi-media package across all of ITV’s broadcast, online, interactive and mobile assets. The agreement will also see Sony become the sole integrated sponsor of all England Internationals content on ITV, which includes break bumpers in live matches.

England’s qualifying games get underway on October 11, with coverage of England v Khazakhstan live on ITV1.

Football fans will also be able to watch live steaming of games throughout the qualifying campaign and post match clips of each game online on itv.com (pictured) and ITV local.
