Zitter takes on Mail Newspapers MD role

Guy Zitter, the Daily Mail managing director and Associated Newspapers commercial director, has been appointed to the expanded role of managing director of Mail Newspapers. Zitter will now take on responsiblility for The Mail on Sunday.

The group says the move is “part of an ongoing management restructure to better position us through the current challenging trading environment”. Mail Newspapers will include The Daily Mail, The Mail on Sunday, Mail Digital, Mail Ireland and the group’s share of Mail Today in India.

Last month, Marketing Week predicted that Zitter’s role would be expanded to include the Mail on Sunday and responsibility for digital (MW September 23). It follows the merger of the management teams of its national and regional newspaper businesses under a new unit known as A&N Media.

Associated Newspapers managing director Kevin Beatty has now added the role of chief executive of A&N Media to his responsibilities.

The company is still looking for a replacement for The Mail on Sunday managing director Stephen Miron, who will leave in November to head up Global Group’s radio division. His replacement will report to Zitter.
