BLM Quantum has won the online planning and buying business for The Number, operator of the 118 118 service. The appointment comes after a pitch against undisclosed agencies.
The account was previously handled by OMD, which will continue to handle it media planning and buying. Naked is also a roster agency.
BLM Quantum will be responsible for promoting both the consumer and business benefits of 118 118. The first campaign will break at the end of October and will promote 118 118’s capability of answering virtually any question quickly and accurately. It will feature a direct, live rich-media feed of customer questions to 118 118’s “Ask Us Anything” service.
Dan Clays, managing director of BLM Quantum, says that agency aims to build on the its existing brand awareness with some “innovative online brand and demand-creation campaigns”.
118 118 hit the headlines this morning after it emerged its latest promotion, offering selected winning customers £118 prize money, was turned down by customers because they were suspicious of fraudulent scam calls.
The company is now printing the winners’ names online in the hope it can persuade them the prizes are real.
