Local Radio Company restructures its board

Jazz FM has appointed Richard Wheatly as its new executive chairman. He was previously executive chairman of the radio station’s parent company, The Local Radio Company (LRC), and will remain on its board as a non-executive director.

The move is part of a series of board changes announced by the LRC today (October 31), which are effective immediately.

Wheatley will be replaced by Anthony Gumber, as non-executive chairman of the LRC. Gumber was previously a non-executive director at the company.

Other changes include the promotion of finance director, Alistair Mackenzie, to chief operating officer and Rhys Davies, currently non-executive director, has been appointed investment director for the group.

Wheatly says: “The revised board structure recognises the new opportunities and challenges faced by the Company. With the support of our major shareholder, the presence of the skills and experience to deliver growth through Jazz FM and the optimisation of our existing local radio business.”
