Clear Channel hunts for Euro boss

Clear Channel is seeking a European chief after scrapping the role of international president.

It is understood that the US-owned outdoor company wants to develop its European business following its takeover by private equity partners earlier this year.

The role of international president has been dormant since Roger Parry stepped down in 2006. The European president role will not assume Parry’s responsibilities and it is not clear howit will affect existing UK reporting lines.

Clear Channel says it is “looking at internal and external candidates” and will be making an announcement “when appropriate”.

In March, Clear Channel’s UK arm appointed group sales director Rob Atkinson as UK managing director. Atkinson reports to regional president for the UK, Ireland and North America Barry Sayer and is responsible for driving the expansion of the outdoor contractor in the UK.

The company’s shareholders approved its $17.9bn (£8.9bn) takeover by private equity companies Bain Capital and Thomas H Lee Partners in August this year.
