Dell global marketing VP steps down

Dell vice-president global marketing Casey Jones has stepped down from the role after two years. Jones, who will stay on as marketing advisor to the company, was the driving force behind Dell’s recent move to set up a standalone agency with WPP Group.

Jones will continue to work with the computer manufacturer to develop marketing ideas and will be involved with Enfatico, the agency WPP set up to service Dell earlier this year. It followed a review of the company’s $4.5bn (£2.9bn) global advertising business, which WPP won last December.

Dell confirms that Jones has left the company but adds he will “advise the marketing leadership within the organisation”. It is not clear if he will be replaced. The company’s chief marketing officer is Mark Jarvis.

Enfatico, called Project Da Vinci during the pitch, is led by Torrence Boone, previously Digitas Boston president. It handles advertising, media planning and buying and direct marketing for the brand.

It is not known if Jones, who is a former executive vice-president and global strategy director at Interpublic Group, has a job to go to.
