Aviva poaches from British Gas to strengthen marketing team

Insurance group Aviva is strengthening its global marketing team ahead of a major advertising push next year that will also see its UK operation Norwich Union relaunched under the parent brand. Group marketing director Amanda Mackenzie has poached two executives from British Gas, where she was previously marketing director.

British Gas interim marketing director Jan Gooding becomes marketing operations director and Oliver White, of British Gas parent company, will take the new post of customer and innovations director. Both will report to Mackenzie.

Gooding, as British Gas interim marketing director, was responsible for brand, customer and marketing communications, and customer billing. At Aviva she will oversee marketing strategy and planning, procurement and marketing capability development across all its worldwide operations.

Gooding also worked in the advertising industry, before setting up her own marketing consultancy, and has held senior marketing positions at BT.

White joined Centrica in 2003, where he held a number of roles in customer insight, data management and change management. He will now be responsible for ensuring that best practice and customer insight are shared across the insurance company’s operations.
