Thomas Cook retains Angels for post-Christmas campaign

Thomas Cook has retained Company of Angels to create its post-Christmas campaign.

The travel operator had been tipped to appointed Red Brick Road to its £9m account but changed its plans following the departure of executive director of marketing Simon Carter in October (MW September 25).

It is understood that Thomas Cook will work with Red Brick Road on a strategic project next year, although the agency will not be handed the entire account.

The tour operator called a review of its advertising across all of its brands in June. Its portfolio includes Thomas Cook, Airtours, Going Places, Direct Holidays, Panorama, Manos and Cresta.

The review was called by Carter and marketing director Gary Hockey-Morley. The marketing responsibilities are being handled by Simon Robinson, executive director of distribution, who has taken on the role until a replacement is found.

A Thomas Cook spokeswoman says: “We are currently contracted to a number of agencies, of which Angels is one. We will not disclose any details about our Christmas campaign, including which agency or agencies we are working with, until the launch.”

Following the company’s merger with MyTravel, group, marketing director Tim Marsden left the enlarged group following a major restructure of the companies’ marketing teams. Carter was promoted to a board-level role.
