The7stars wins media account for Cooking Vinyl

The7stars has won the media planning and buying for independent label Cooking Vinyl Records. It will handle all media, including digital, for the launch of the new album from The Prodigy, “Invaders Must Die”.

The agency pitched against two undisclosed agencies to win the business. The label previously worked with Sold Out, a media agency that specialises in entertainment brands.

The7stars is already working on the album launch, which is due to be released on March 2 next year. It is the band’s fifth studio album and is their first for five years.

Before the launch, the band will offer the first track from the album as a free download from its website, and will also tour the UK next month.

Gareth Jones, partner at the7stars, says it has some “exciting plans” for the launch.

The Cooking Vinyl win builds on the7stars existing portfolio of music labels. It handles the £1.5m media planning and buying for EMI-owned Mute Records, and also handles the media for Domino Records, the independent label behind the Arctic Monkeys (MW April5, 2007).

The Prodigy signed a joint contract with the independent label, which also works with Ryan Adams and The Buzzcocks, after parting company with XL Recordings after 17 years. Cooking Vinyl backed the band’s label, Ragged Flag.
