WCRS has been appointed to the £13m advertising account for The Sun and News of the World. It followed a pitch against Red Brick Road and Fallon.

The incumbent, Euro RSCG, had dropped off the pitch list at an earlier stage (MW October 23).

The review was called at the end of July, with the AAR brought in to contact and brief the agencies.

News Group Newspapers sales and marketing director, Roland Agambar, led the process, with James Murdoch, chairman and chief executive, News Corporation for Europe and Asia, also involved in the decision making process.

In October, Euro RSCG launched a TV ad to promote The Sun’s cover price. The ad, with the strapline “All for just 30p”, was launched alongside new radio and outdoor advertising.

The Sun remains the leading daily newspaper in circulation terms. In the six months ended September, according to Audit Bureau of Circulations figures, it reported a 0.2% month on month rise.
