Virgin Media marketing chief McCormack quits

Virgin Media marketing director of brand and acquisitions Lisa McCormack is understood to be leaving the cable company. It is not known whether she has a job to go to.

McCormack, who reported to managing director of brand and marketing Ashley Stockwell, was one of thefew staff to remain at the cable operator, following its rebrand to Virgin Media in February last year.

She was responsible for appointing Rapier, the incumbent on the Telewest business, as the lead agency on the £50m Virgin Media integrated account in 2006.

McCormack is understood to have had a close relationship with the agency, which won the majority of the business ahead of the Virgin roster agency RKCR/Y&R.

McCormack joined Telewest as head of acquisitions, and oversaw the restructure of the marketing teams when it merged with rival NTL in 2005.

The business was subsequently acquired by Virgin before being merged with Virgin Mobile to create quadruple-play operator Virgin Media.
