Yell marketing communications chief to depart

Yell head of marketing communications John Hayward is understood to be leaving the company. It follows the directory company’s recent announcement that it would cut around 350 jobs in the UK.

It is understood that several positions within the company, including the marketing department, are also under consultation as part of the cost-cutting measures.

Last month, the company also said it would look to save £150m this year and a further £100m in 2009, with around 1,300 jobs to be axed globally.

The departure comes just weeks after consumer development director Clodagh Ward left the company after less than 17 months (MW November 26). It is not known if she has a job to go to. Ward, a former Heinz marketer, oversaw brand promotion and managed product programmes.

Yell has also folded its mobile division into its digital department as part of a restructure of its business. As part of the changes, Carey Bunks head of mobile, has been made redundant.
