Hewlett-Packard reviews EMEA account

Hewlett-Packard has called a pan-European review of its £30m advertising for its consumer products division, currently held by McCann Erickson. The agency is expected to pitch against HP roster networks BBDO and Publicis Groupe.

A HP spokesman says the electronics company is reviewing the account across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, but he adds that it is considering consolidating the account globally. BBDO holds the business in America, while Publicis is incumbent across Asia.

BBDO also handles HP’s imaging and products advertising globally after winning the business in April this year. Publicis Dialog handles direct marketing for HP Personal Services, the consumer products division, across EMEA and was previously incumbent on the region’s above-the-line business.

McCann Erickson was appointed to handle advertising for the division, which encompasses products such as laptops and PCs, across EMEA in March 2006.

The review comes alongside a pitch of the company’s £150m global media planning and buying account, which is held by ZenithOptimedia. The media review was called last month.
