Global Radio has appointed Associated Newspapers strategy chief Stuart Mays (pictured) to the new role of director of commercial strategy. He will take over the role on January 5.

Mays will be responsible for client communications, commercial output and helping clients to incorporate radio into their communications strategy. He will report to commercial director, Mike Gordon, who joined the radio operator on December 1.

Gordon says that the group see “tremendous opportunities” for working more strategically across its client and business portfolio.

Mays and Gordon join Stephen Miron, the former managing director of Associated-Newspapers-owned Mail on Sunday and Mail Online. Miron joined as chief executive of the radio division also on December 1.

The changes are part of Global’s ongoing takeover of GCap Media. It has been trading as a merged sales team since the start of November although Global’s move into GCap’s Leicester Square building was only completed last week.
