IPC names new chief executive

IPC Media, publisher of Nuts, Marie Claire and Now!, has appointed Evelyn Webster as chief executive to replace Sylvia Auton, who will remain as chairman.

Webster is currently managing director of IPC Connect, IPC’s women’s weekly magazine division. She joined IPC in 1992 and became a publisher with the then IPC Specialist group. She has held roles across marketing and circulation before being appointed to the IPC board in 2003 as managing director of IPC Country & Leisure Media (now IPC Inspire).

Auton has been chief executive since 2003 and will remain chairman and executive vice president at Time Inc. Auton will now be based at Time Inc’s offices in New York.

Like other magazine publishers, IPC has been struggling with falling circulation on many of its titles and how to migrate ad revenues online. It bought the free-to-play games site www.mousebreaker.com in June and recently relaunched the website for its weekly lads’ mag Nuts.
