Asics is pursuing a strategy of positioning as the leader in the performance running footwear sector. It is increasing its ad spend this year and has already run its first UK television spots along with advertising in the sports sections of the national press and activity in national gym chains.
It has signed a three year deal with Great Run series and will be able to display, promote and sell products at the Great Run events in the UK. It will create a dedicated area on the Great Run website to give product and training advice for runners.
The Bupa Great Run Series holds 10 events, including the Great North Run, Great Yorkshire Run and Great Edinburgh Run.
Asics managing director UK & Ireland Barry Mellis says: “This partnership with the Great Run series will cement Asics’ position as the runner’s choice in the UK.”
