Euro RSCG wins Peugeot dealer account

Peugeot has moved the advertising for its dealership network into Euro RSCG following a pitch. Incumbent agency McCann Erickson Manchester was involved in the review and will retain the media planning and buying account.

The move consolidates the Peugeot’s advertising into one agency as Euro RSCG already handles the brand’s £30m advertising account. The agency will now develop campaigns for the dealership’s 300-strong network.

McCann Erickson Manchester, which also retains the PR business, has handled the account for at least the past 10 years. It retained the account in 2004 following a pitch handled by the AAR after working on the account for five years.

The latest appointment comes at a critical time for the motor industry, which has been hit by the global economic downturn. Figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders revealed that new car sales in the UK were down 23% year-on-year in November.

Peugeot is also currently pitching the integrated account for its fleet division estimated to be worth £1m. There is no incumbent on the account.
