Fallon has been appointed to handle the £4m advertising account for Project Kangaroo. The agency won the account following a pitch against six undisclosed agencies.

It will now handle all ads for the video-on-demand joint venture between BBC Worldwide, Channel 4 and ITV. The pitch was handled by Creativebrief.

Kangaroo has been seeking an agency since last July, but has delayed an appointment while the Competition Commission investigates the venture.

Last December, the Commission warned that the online TV joint venture would restrict competition in the UK video-on-demand market and outlined a selection of possible remedies to address the competition issue, including making “material modifications” to the structure of the joint venture, including limiting the terms of exclusivity between it and its partner companies or the scope of its activities.

The way content is offered to other providers could also be controlled, the commission has advised.

Its final report is due to be published on February 8.

Meanwhile, Project Kangaroo is still searching for a media planning and buying agency. MindShare, Mediaedge:cia, MPG, OMD and Vizeum are understood to have been shortlisted.
