MPG International has won the €5m (£4.5m) US and European media planning and buying account for drinks company C&C Group. The agency scooped the account following a pitch against the incumbent ZenithOptimedia.

The appointment extends the network’s relationship with the drinks company, which distributes the Magners brand, as the London agency already handles the £16.7m UK account.

C&C Group, headquartered in Dublin, exports a variety of drinks including the premium Irish whiskey brand Tullamore Dew, liqueurs Frangelico, Irish Mist and Carolans Irish Cream to over 80 markets around the world.

C&C is active throughout the US and across Europe, particularly in Eastern Europe and Germany.

The win comes months after MPGi was awarded the £4m pan-European media and planning account for Hermès, the French luxury brand. It also handles the £60m Credit Suisse account, CNBC, Pioneer and E! Entertainment.

In May, MPGi appointed David Goodall, director of media and client services for PSI Advertising, part of Posterscope Worldwide, to head of MPGi. He replaced Ian Rotherham, who left in 2007 to move to Omnicom Media Group.
