Capital FM retains London top breakfast spot

Londons 95.8 Capital FM breakfast duo Johnny Vaughan and Lisa Snowdon have retained the number one spot in the capital, according to the latest Rajar listening figures. The duo had 11,000 more listeners than Heart 106.2 FMs Jamie Theakston and Harriet Scott.

The pairing had a weekly reach of 879,000 listeners in the 6-9am slot, up 2% quarter on quarter on 1.7% year on year. Their closest rivals, Heart 106.2 FM’s Jamie Theakston and Harriet Scott stayed in second place with a weekly reach of 868,000, a 13% increase on quarter three.

Snowdon joined Capital as Vaughan’s partner last August, after Denise Van Outen left the radio station.

Magic 105.4’s Neil Fox remained in third spot registering a weekly reach of 813,000, an 11% rise on Q3. Outside the top three, Absolute Radio’s Christian O’Connell show dropped to 466,000 listeners from the 554,000 Virgin Radio registered across all platforms last quarter.

Absolute Radio launched last September just ahead of the fourth quarter following its re-brand from Virgin Radio. It launched a major re-branding campaign last October with TV ad starring In Bruges Jordan Prentice.
