Carling to display fan created ads

Carling is calling on Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur fans to design personalised digital perimeter boards for next weekend’s Carling Cup Final.

The drinks brand is handing over a third of its pitch-side advertising to fan-created personalised banners at the Wembley contest on March 1.

Fans can create banners at the Carling website with the Coors Brewers-owned firm choosing what it considers the best 100 to be displayed in the stadium.

In addition, one banner from a fan of each club will be put on display in the players’ dressing rooms on the day of the final.

The concept for the campaign was devised between Carling and advertising agency Beattie McGuinness Bungay.

The boards, which have an advertising value of £60,000, will be on display for 32 of the scheduled 90 minutes in two minute bursts.

Coors agreed a three-year extension to its title sponsorship deal with The Football League in December that will see The Carling Cup contested until 2012.
