McGowan will lead an investment in brand development and look to advance group development across the global branding group.

He was previously chief executive of global clients at the WPP-owned group and has worked with a number of global brands including Levi’s, Pepsi, Pernod Ricard and Nestle.

McGowan has been at Added Value since 1989 and was made board director of the UK business in 1994. He joined the Added Value Group board in 1996 and was appointed Group Chairman in 2001.

His appointment follows those of Nina Jenkins and Izzy Pugh who were hired as the agency’s first UK creative directors last year.

Meanwhile, the agency is to launch a “digital innovation and research platform” aimed at enabling the agency’s clients to conduct innovation processes on-line.
