Government searches for head of digital engagement

The government is searching for a head of digital engagement as it looks to increase effective use of digital media.

The role, which has a salary up to £160,000, will have responsibility for outlining and implementing a digital strategy plan within six months of joining.

The government said the role is needed to respond to a huge increase in use of the internet, digital communities and social media.

The job ad asks that candidates be able to work with directors of communication across departments to ensure digital is used effectively and asks that digital be made to complement existing engagement strategies such as face-to-face and direct marketing.

The Cabinet Office-based role has already been slammed by the Tories as a ‘grotesque waste of public money’, according to reports.
