Omnicom wins 220m HP business

Hewlett-Packard has appointed Omnicom to handle global media duties across the business and marketing for its Technology Solutions Group.

Omnicom Media Group will handle the £150m global media planning and buying account across the company’s corporate, personal systems group and image and printing group divisions.

In addition HP’s Technology Solutions Group (TGS) has named Omnicom its “single integrated agency of record” to handle the £69m advertising, direct marketing, search, digital media and integrated business.

HP called a review of its media account last November. ZenithOptimedia, which did repitch for the business, had held the account since 2004 and works with the company in 90 countries.

The technology vendor kicked-off a review for TGS last month. It had worked with a number of different agencies for the business-to-business division including California-based Goodby, Silverstein & Partners as its lead advertising agency and Publicis handling worldwide distribution.

ZenithOptimedia had handled its media planning and buying.

Hewlett-Packard called a pan-European review of its £30m advertising for its consumer products division in December.
