Virgin Atlantic has launched “Red Hot Bonus Miles” promotion for members of its frequent flyer programme, Flying Club.

The promotion is part of the airline’s 25th anniversary this year and offers Flying Club members extra bonus miles every time they fly Upper Class, premium Class, Premium Economy or Economy until April 9.

Loyalty points scheme AirMiles, owned by British Airways, has just come under fire for altering its terms and conditions. New rules mean that collectors who have not added any points in the past two years and don’t add any in the next six months will see their accounts closed.

Director of sales and marketing for Virgin Atlantic Paul Dickinson says: “members can not only spend their bonus miles on flights with the airline but also on rewards through our partners including Eurostar or big.”

The airline recently launched a TV advertising campaign celebrating its 25th anniversary featuring the song Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood.
