Five’s proposed restructure is to include the creation of a new creative unit to handle on-air and off-air marketing.

The broadcaster is to integrate “several key departments” and is forecasting up to 87 positions could be made redundant across the company. Staff are now in consultation.

The new creative unit will also incorporate creative services functions. The broadcaster’s marketing team is currently headed by head of brand strategy and marketing Carl Ratcliffe.

Five’s commercial partnership team and digital media team are also to merge. Current head of sales is Kelly Williams.

Chief executive Dawn Airey says; “We are clearly in the midst of one of the most difficult financial environments in history; Five has therefore taken the necessary step to review all operations to ensure we continue to work as effectively and efficiently as possible.”

The company unveiled a new branding and strapline for its main channel last September accompanied by and advertising campaign developed by Grey London.
