Walkers offers free text vote for new crisp flavour

Walkers Crisps is offering all UK consumers a free SMS vote each day as part of its campaign to launch its latest flavour.

The free SMS voting element of the Do Us A Flavour campaign runs until 1 May and will be promoted on 30m packets of crisps.

Subscribers from all networks can vote for their favourite flavour from a choice of six, including Builder’s Breakfast and Cajun Squirrel, which were suggested by competition entrants.

O2 will also be promoting an offer for voters to receive two free SIM cards via the on-pack push.

The campaign, developed by digital agency Jigsaw, launched in July and will see the winner receive £50,000 and a 1% cut of all future sales from the flavour.

Miranda Sambles, marketing manager for Walkers Crisp, said mobile voting was a vital part of the selection process. “We immediately recognised the benefits of offering a free SMS vote to all consumers as the ideal engagement tool to incentivise interaction,” she said.
